Are you interested in learning ways to help your child build early reading skills?
Researchers from Fairleigh Dickinson University will be conducting a study in the Dumont school district to examine the effects of a 6-week workshop on shared reading strategies. Participation is voluntary.
Parents of kindergarteners in Dumont are eligible to participate in this study at no cost, and the program will be held in Honiss School’s Media Center. Participation will involve attendance at the six weekly workshops, which will focus on strategies you can use when reading together with your child at home (including how to ask appropriate questions, build phonemic awareness skills, and increase letter and word recognition).
The strategies that will be taught in the workshop have been found to improve young children’s reading skills and promote future reading success.
Space is limited, so please call to reserve your spot or ask any questions about participation.
