As many of you are already aware through various news media reports, on Friday, March 6, Grant School was faced with an unimaginable event involving one of its 5th grade students. This incident was a terrible tragedy, which has had a heart wrenching impact on the entire educational community. The entire district grieves for the young boy’s family and his untimely passing. No words can ever express the painful emotions surrounding such a sad moment in time.
We have and will continue to provide counseling services for all Grant School students and school personnel affected by this heartbreaking incident and have obtained expert assistance from outside resources. If you or any member of your family wishes to take advantage of any of our services, please contact your building principal. Resources will be available throughout the district. Your child may have some unresolved feelings that they would like to discuss with you. You can help your child by listening carefully, not overreacting, accepting his or her feelings, and answering questions honestly according to your beliefs.
