As you might expect, the District has been paying close attention to the latest information being published about COVID-19. We have been reviewing the data that was recently shared at the Governor’s Coronavirus Task Force’s briefing concerning the increasing number of COVID-19 cases and high positivity rate in the state, in addition to the newly imposed highly restrictive Orange Level guidelines recommended by the Bergen County Health Department, which severely impact our ability to provide the staff needed to support a Hybrid format.
After consulting with the Administrators, staff, the Board of Education and the local health officials, the District will be converting to an all Virtual format for the remainder of the 2020 school year with the intent of returning to an in-person/Hybrid format on January 4, 2021. Student lunches will still be provided during this time and can be picked up at Dumont High School Cafeteria from 12:30 p.m. through 2:30 p.m.
Although we are well aware that many of our parents and students expected to return to school this Monday, December 7th and understand the disappointment, we are taking this major step in an attempt to ensure the health and safety of our educational community with the hopes that everyone will have the opportunity to enjoy this upcoming holiday with friends and family to the greatest extent possible.
In the event that it becomes necessary, another message will be sent prior to January 4th.
